Rink, Stories from an Oregon Ice Arena is F. Michael “Mike” Sheehan’s first book.
Mike grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts, and learned to play ice hockey skating on frozen Ell Pond each winter. He first moved to Eugene in 1972, where he attended the University of Oregon and played on the university’s club soccer team. Mike spent the next decade working and traveling throughout North America and Europe before returning to Oregon, where he began his career at Sacred Heart/PeaceHealth. Michael became a leader in healthcare IT before the personal computer was first developed. He has worked as an advisory consultant for healthcare organizations and served as the Chief Information Officer at PeaceHealth Oregon.
Mike has played in the Lane County Adult Hockey League for over 30 years. In July 2023, he joined the Eugene Old Growth team for the Snoopy Senior Ice Hockey Tournament. The Old Growth played in the over-70 division and were featured in a New York Times article about the tournament.
Mike lives with his wife, LeeAnn, in Eugene, Oregon. They have four adult children. Michael, LeeAnn, and their dog Sierra frequently travel in their converted campervan throughout western North America.
